On November 26th, I had, with great sadness, to say goodbye to my dog and dearest friend, Leika.
Shortly before, she had suddenly lost all control of her legs. After a visit to the vet, who thoroughly examined her (physical examination, ultrasound, blood tests, and x-rays), she was diagnosed with a large tumor near her heart, fluid around her lungs, and poor blood counts. There was nothing more that could be done, and euthanasia was urgently recommended, as waiting any longer would only worsen the situation, resulting in a great deal of pain. I took her home with strong medication, and we shared a "beautiful" last day together, but she was already in bad shape. On November 26th, I had to say goodbye to her, with great pain in my heart. However, it was the only option in her best interest. Leika and I were very close.
You can imagine, especially those who knew Leika, that I was, and still am, very sad about this. To commemorate her, her photo is prominently featured in this Newsletter.
I also made a video with photos and videos about her life, accompanied by special music. You can see it here. |
